1939 2:50 Sat About all I can feel is a deep sense of relief - Responsibilities get me down. I'm so glad it's over - Spence was a very nice date - There is no one in the J.S. class I would rather have gone with - But I kept thinking of some-one else all the time

1940 Mon Worked till 12:00 I've never struggled so much over something that's really so simple - If I were only done!

1941 Have I a sense of values, or have I not? Days like today make me wonder. I don't seem to care about things. I'm mixed up. Hope I snap out of this.

1942 12:30 We had our drawing class picnic today + it was a def. success. Choir left about 3; so did we drew animals. I did all the  work of arranging (nev. again) came back to creative writing... Hypnotic session in the Art Room

1943 11:00 PEG IS IN THE THROES of GETTING READY AND PACKED - A JOB. MRS. STOTE TOOK ME TO THE Fashion Group LUNCHEON TODAY! - MANY THE BIG WIG, THERE... SHERRY FIRST, + GOOD food. STUFFY, VICTORIAN HOTEL - FUNNY PLACE... I HAVEN'T HEARD FROM Leonard THIS WEEK!
